Kids To Be Further Protected In Meth-Related Cases

Law enforcement agencies, the Mesa County Meth Task Force and Department of Human Services all entered into a memorandum of understanding Wednesday, to better protect children who are caught in the middle of meth-related activities and arrests.

The MOU looks to help a child feel safe when a bust happens, with coordination between officers and the department of human services.

A representative with DHS will be immediately dispatched to the home, with the hopes of getting the child to loved ones, not foster care.

District Attorney Pete Hautzinger said during the signing that the MOU is just another example of how the county is taking a progressive approach to the war on meth.
