Grand Junction Police are on the lookout for a woman who abandoned her children after drug paraphernalia is found in her vehicle. The woman, who has not been officially identified has been on the run since Sunday afternoon.
The search began at the Big Lots store on North Avenue. A call was made to the Grand Junction Police Department around 4:30 Sunday afternoon, concerning an SUV in the parking lot with its emergency flashers on and passenger side door slightly ajar. When officers arrived on scene, drug paraphernalia was discovered in the front seat, and after identifying who the vehicle belonged to, police went into Big Lots to find the unidentified woman.
While the officers were searching the store, the suspect spotted the officers and asked a nearby shopper to watch her children then took off through the back door. The suspect's last known location was at a payphone on 32 Road and because it is an on–going investigation, police are not releasing any suspect information.
