Montrose District Attorney Tom Raynes is resigning to get a new job in Denver. Raynes is the D.A. for the Seventh Judicial District, which also includes Delta and Telluride.
Attorney General-elect John Suthers has chosen Raynes to be First Assistant Attorney General with the Criminal Justice Division. He will handle a wide variety of cases, including election fraud, white-collar crimes, crimes against state agencies, and environmental cases.
He expects to take his new position on January 2 of next year. Raynes has served in Montrose since December of 2002.
