Pets Need "Winterizing" Too, Local Official Says

Video will be available shortly.

You think about winterizing your car and home...but Mesa County Animal Services would like you to think of your outdoor pets too.

Officials say even though it's cold, outdoor animals still need water to survive, and extra food as well.

Animals who stay outside should have a warm place to go, and a dog house should have floor insulation and a door to keep out cold winds.
If it gets bitterly cold you should bring them inside.

Shelter director Penny McCarty says animal control officers do make checks on complaints-- mostly lodged by neighbors-- and will remove the animals from their home if the problem continues.
