Construction on the Colorado Bureau of Investigations' new state of the art Criminal Justice Center is officially underway.
Dozens came out for Friday's groundbreaking ceremony at the site near Walker Field Airport. Several agencies have been hard at work planning and designing the new building. Officials say this new center will greatly impact the state. Most of the crimes that the CBI deals with are along the 1–70 corridor, so the Grand Junction location will be more efficient.
"There's a lot of new types of crimes such as Internet issues and identity theft. With this new facility the CBI can step up the states ability to try to prevent those awful activities."
The new thirty seven thousand square foot facility is expected to be completed by the spring of 2008.
