School District's Accountability Marks Are Positive

Video will be available shortly.

Mesa County School District 51 receives three different performance reports throughout the year, a federal, state and local evaluations and this year's results indicate a dramatic improvement in student performance.

The state's report rates the overall academic performance and academic growth of students. This year, 16 district schools were rated as high or above, doubling the number from just six years ago. In the same time period, the number of schools rated low improved from 10 to four.

No schools were seen as unsatisfactory and while the current strategies are helping student growth, school officials say there's always room for improvement as strategies to improve student proficiencies will continue to expand and change.

The Colorado Department of Education's accountability reports not only chart student growth, but also provides parents with information on school safety, student demographics and financial information for tax payers.
