State Senator Ron Teck's resignation from office Monday creates a domino effect in the local legislative hierarchy.
Even though the legislature is not in session, state law requires that someone represent the people of Colorado in case an emergency session is called. Teck says the obvious choice for vacancy committees is to choose Senator–elect Josh Penry to replace him, and Representative–elect Steve King to replace Penry.
No choice has been made. State law also requires a successor to an out–going senator or representative be chosen within ten days.
