A 16–year–old from Grand Junction is in critical condition Friday evening after a truck pulled into the path of her car. The teenager was driving westbound on Highway 50 just after 5 p.m. when the accident happened.
The Colorado State Patrol says 29–Year–old Matt Walker left his Orchard Mesa home and approached the highway on 28 1/2 Road. The impact sent the truck spinning. The Toyota came to rest 100 feet from the intersection in a median. The teen was given CPR when Grand Junction Fire Department rescuers arrived. They had to cut the roof to get her out of the car.
Walker has been cited for failure to yield causing an accident with injuries. Neither speeding nor alcohol abuse is suspected in the crash.
