During a time when many businesses are scaling back, Gold's Gym is gearing up to open its second Grand Valley location Monday.
Sunday afternoon, crews were putting the finishing touches on the new 42,000 square foot gym at the Peach Tree Shopping Center in Clifton.
The new gym will feature hundreds of cardio and weight machines, a junior-Olympic sized pool, sauna, hot tub, basketball courts, raquetball courts, classroom, cardio cinema area, and daycare.
Officials say after the strong response they received from their first gym in Grand Junction, it only made sense to build a new one that people in other Mesa County communities could more easily access.
"In any business, you've always got to be careful of the pros and cons of what you're doing, and fortunately during a recession most people have their health to rely on," said Matt Makowski, General Manager of the Clifton Gold's Gym. "And we can help them out with their health."
The gym will be open 24 hours Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
