Purse Snatching Suspect Still At-Large

The Grand Junction Police Department is still looking for a suspect in a Monday afternoon robbery at a Safeway grocery store.

Around 4:00 p.m. Monday at the Safeway on Patterson and 29 Roads, the suspect allegedly approached an elderly woman who was shopping, grabbed her purse, then fled the store.

A police K–9 unit attempted to track the suspect along the canal on 29 Rd., however, at this time the purse snatcher is still at large.

The woman was not hurt in the incident and police officials say the holiday season is a time when shoppers should be more aware of their surroundings.

The suspect, described as an African-American male, is about 5-feet- 10, has a thin build and was wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grand Junction Police Department.
