Telephone Worker Injured After Head-First Fall Into Hole

A Qwest telephone worker is taken to the hospital today after he falls into a semi-submerged vault.

The 31–year–old was working near a submerged telephone service facility when he stumbled and fell head–first into the 3–foot–deep vault. Grand Junction Fire and ambulance crews responded to the scene along with supervisors from the regional telephone provider. The worker was transported to St. Mary's Hospital with a head and neck injury. His condition is not known, but he was reportedly moving his arms and legs when he left the scene.
