Separator Program Receives GOCO Money for Land Purchase

Mesa County's Community Separator Program gets a big shot in the arm thanks in part to the Colorado Lottery.Once again the program is receiving money from Great Outdoors Colorado, which is funded annually by 51 million dollars of lottery money.

The grant will fund the preservation of a 51–acre parcel of land between Palisade and Grand Junction by buying development rights to the land. The purchase will allow the landowners to continue farming the land, and add to the two–thirds of a mile of Colorado Riverfront already protected.

The Community Separator Program will also receive more than 270–thousand dollars in additional federal funds for the purchase.
