Oil & Gas Industry Taking Potential Bus Drivers

Video will be available shortly.

With Mesa County's unemployment rate at 3.3 %, and a booming oil and gas industry hiring; many employers are finding they have to be more aggressive when it comes to seeking out workers.

Laidlaw Education Services is pulling out all the stops when it comes to recruiting more bus drivers. Thursday they set up shop in the Wal–Mart parking lot in hopes of finding applicants.

To start out drivers make $9.00 an hour, and if they commit to 90 days there's a signing bonus. Laidlaw officials say being a bus driver is a perfect job for a retiree or a mother with kids.

In order to have drivers for all routes, Laidlaw is looking to hire at least 10 more drivers. Friday Laidlaw will be out near Lowe's.
