Senator–elect Josh Penry is now officially in office. Penry tells 11 News, the vacancy committee met in Denver Saturday and appointed him to replace outgoing Senator Ron Teck who announced earlier this month that he was leaving office before his final term was up in order to seek other employment. Although the legislature is not in session for another three weeks, state law requires someone represent the people of each district in case an emergency session is called. Penry's early entry into the senate does not count as a term. Replacing Penry as representative in district 54 is political newcomer Steve King.
