A controversial proposal to build a new uranium mill in Montrose County will be back on the table for the third time during a planning commission meeting Wednesday Night.
The meeting will take place in Friendship Hall at 6:00pm.
The Montrose County Planning Commission will decide whether to recommend approval of a special use permit for the Pinon Ridge Mill near Nucla.
Wednesday night's meeting is a continuation of two previous meetings where hundreds of residents spent hours voicing their opinions to the commission.
Public comment was closed after the last meeting on June 10 -- but county officials say in light of recent changes Energy Fuels, the company behind the mill, has made to their permit request there may be time for more public comment on those changes only at the end of the meeting. However, they stress that the planning commission will get to ask questions and discuss the permit request before the public will.
Once the planning commission makes their recommendation, the permit request heads to the Montrose County Commissioners. If the county gives it final approval, it must also be approved by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
