An Xcel energy spokesperson admits there is some confusion over natural gas rates, but they are in fact going down--at least for now.
Last week the state's largest energy provider announced gas rates would fall ten per cent next month, for an average savings of 12 dollars per month. But some customers say they were notified of an increase in gas prices.
Xcel spokesperson Fred Eggelston says the company perhaps put the cart before the horse in making that announcement. A decision on the proposed increase of 13.85 percent was put off by the Public Utility Commission until sometime next spring.
