City Burns Mortgage Papers

Video will be available shortly.

Many homeowners are familiar with the tradition of burning mortgage papers, so you can imagine how the City of Grand Junction feels now that a two–million-dollar mortgage is paid off.

Today the city celebrated the final payment on the Matchett property, 215 acres of farm land at the intersection of 28 1/4 and Patterson Roads purchased a decade ago to become the city's newest park.

When developed, the park will be twice the size of Canyon View Park, and the city wants to hear from the community on how it should take shape. Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Director Joe Stevens says you should contact the city Parks and Recreation Commission with your ideas.
