A Mesa County man is behind bars after deputies say he hid a bag of drugs under his genitals, took the bag out and then swallowed it.
41–year–old Raymond Salazar is facing several charges including possession of meth and tampering with evidence.
Investigators say Salazar had a suspended license and two warrants when they found him driving around Orchard Mesa Thursday and arrested him.
According to an arrest affidavit, during a strip search, deputies say Salazar bent over and when they looked back they saw him put a baggie with white powder into his mouth. The affidavit says he was taken to the hospital and a search warrant had to be issued so officials could have his stomach pumped to recover the baggie.
Deputies say it later tested positive for meth.
Salazar is being held in the Mesa County jail on a $9,000 bond.
