A man hoping to challenge Democrat Michael Bennet for his U.S. Senate seat is spending his 4th of July weekend here in the Grand Valley.
Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck stumped in front of dozens during a Grand Junction Tea Party Rally Saturday night.
The front range Republican says he is an energy friendly candidate and that he would never have voted for a stimulus bill he didn't read.
He says he is against wasteful government spending in the form of earmarks and he opposes the cap and trade emissions bill currently making its way through Congress.
Buck says he will stand up for Western Slope values and hopes the Western Slope will stand up for him in 2010.
"There are a lot of things going through Congress right now, that are in my view bad policy and shift the burden to our grandchildren," said Buck. "I think it's really important that we send people with Colorado values back to Washington."
Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier and Denver businessman Cleve Tidwell are also seeking the Republican nomination in the U.S. Senate race.
