River rescuers were called out to the same spot twice in one day, and thanks to them seven people are safe and sound.

The first call came in around 5 p.m. Sunday. Officials with the Grand Junction Fire Department and Mesa County Search and Rescue hit the Colorado River looking for people that may have fallen out of a canoe.
Rescuers came upon some rafters who had retrieved the canoe and said they thought they saw three men on an island. Those men were never found and officials believe they may have self-rescued.

While searching the river between Redlands Parkway and 29 Road rescuers spotted a girl stranded on an island and gave her a ride back to shore. But at around 7 p.m., that same girl called 911 after seeing some of her family's rafts and shoes float by.

Rescuers located the rest of her party which included six people on an island and helped them back to shore.

No one helped off the river Sunday was wearing a life jacket.
