An Orchard Mesa family is no doubt facing hardship on this Christmas after fire destroyed their home and claimed the life of a family pet.
The rear of the home at 1914 Palisade St. was fully involved when fire fighters arrived on scene just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday night and while it took just 15 minutes to knock down the flames, the home had significant fire damage, making the mop up work not only tedious but dangerous as well.
The home owners were out when the fire occurred, however, the family dog was a victim of the flames.
Fire damages are estimated to be about $50,000.
