More than two thousand five hundred people gathered last night in Vail for a tribute dedicated to former President Gerald R. Ford.
The memorial was held in Vail because it was a destination the former Commander in Chief skied for nearly forty years. The tribute included a single file line of five hundred ski instructors carrying glowing torches down Goldenpeak. Musical performances and prayers were also given. Residents of the area say they remember Ford as someone who treated everyone as an equal.
