Bad Weather Means Bad Streets

Video will be available shortly.

The cold weather we have been experiencing is bad new for Grand Valley streets. Snow and moisture in the air often creates pot holes and cracks around our streets. During the colder part of the year maintaining roads becomes difficult. This is partly because the type of asphalt that is used in the winter months doesn't last long.

Doug Cline with the Grand Junction Public Work's Street Systems says, "When the hot asphalt is available we will take out the cold asphalt cause its temporary, and replace it with hot asphalt which is permanent."

The public work's street systems department is determined to make all of the roads around town a smooth drive. So, if you notice potholes or other road problems around town you can report them to the city using it's "fix–it" form. http://www.gjcity.org
