January third has officially been declared as Barbara Brewer Day.
Governor Bill Owens proclaimed the day to honor Brewer for her outstanding service to the citizens of the state of Colorado.
It was a full room as Mesa County Commissioner, Janet Rowland gave the special presentation which nearly left Brewer in tears.
Brewer says, "The employees and I are a team. I wouldn't be able to do anything without them. It's not just Barbara Brewer Day, its Barbara Brewer, Karen Ener and Audrey Barzee day. It's public trustee day.
Brewer will be sworn in as the new Mesa County Assessor on January ninth.
