Crews responded overnight to reports of a burning trailer on the Mesa only to find it was actually a porta-potty.

The call came in around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Land's End Fire Department was sent to what was reported as a trailer fire on Reeder Mesa Road just outside of Whitewater.

Firefighters and the Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies arrived to find a trailer burning off the side of the road.

After investigating they discovered the trailer was actually a platform for a porta-potty.

Deputies say the person who reported the fire drove all the way from the scene near Whitewater to the Downtown Grand Junction Fire Station to report it.

According to the Land's End Fire Department, the fire is suspicious in nature. But say everything burned, so there's little evidence and they aren't sure how the simple structure caught fire.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Department is investigating. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 241-STOP.
