In response to misperceptions on the part of some regarding our Capitol Watch segment, we wish to restate that Teresa Coons and Janet Rowland are not presented as reporters or KKCO employees, but as who they are: elected officials bringing to light legislation they believe is important to their constituents. This is a function they are called upon to do by news departments every day.
We are pleased they realize what an effective vehicle KKCO is for this purpose. Moreover, this segment is in addition to one of the largest teams of reporters in Western Colorado covering the state legislature as is demonstrated by our reporters presence at the state capitol even as this is written.
It is important that viewers be given the opportunity to hear from more voices directly, especially those whom they elected. Our viewers are intelligent enough to know the difference and deserve the opportunity to make up their own minds.
