The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is using $2 Million from this years budget to hire 14 new employees to keep up with county growth.

According to Sheriff Stan Hilkey, nine patrol officers are being hired.
Five will be assigned to the Street Crimes Overlap Unit and the other four will join deputies currently patrolling.

Two other deputies will be hired as courtroom security, because of the increasing work load at the Justice Center. The Sheriff's Office is also hiring a Crime Analyst, a Background Investigator and a Sex Offender Investigator.

Hilkey adds that 14 employees is the most the office has hired at one time...
