MLK Honored In GJ Ceremony

A rendition of God Bless America and the reciting of the "I Have A Dream" speech cap a public commemoration to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Former Grand Junction city council member Harry Butler was the featured speaker at the event. Butler says it's important to remember each year what king stood for. Also, an olympic torch that's making its way across the state was lit. The torch is symbolic of being one people and connecting all Coloradoans with King's vision. On Monday to observe the holiday the public is encouraged to attend a march in downtown Grand Junction. People are asked to meet at 10:30 in the morning at either the central library or Rood Avenue City Market for a walk followed by a gathering at city hall.
