A convicted sex offender who was wanted after he failed to register his address in Mesa County is now behind bars. James D. Caviness was picked up by authorities in Jefferson County, last Friday. He was transferred and booked into the Mesa County jail Thursday. Caviness was convicted of second–degree sexual assault in Clear Creek County in 1998. His last known address was 120 Anna Drive in Grand Junction. When authorities couldn't locate him a warrant was issued, he was also wanted on drug related charges.
