Library Reopens With New & Improved Look

Video will be available shortly.

After a week and a half without power, the Central Branch of the Mesa County Library District is back up and running.

A water main break and a blown transformer forced the library to shutdown while repairs were made. Initially officials thought the library's remodeling project would be set back three to four weeks because of the flooding but that's not the case. Instead crews were able to keep working on the project and it's essentially done, the only thing left to do is replace some of the carpet that got wet in the flood.

The library's remodeling project came in at just under $1 Million and included all new paint and carpet, a new vestibule in the front lobby and new furniture. Staff offices were moved across the street to make room for a new computer training lab, a public programming space, a teen area and regional history room that sets to open soon.
