Two To Replace Relph, At Least For A While

It will require two people to do the job of one--at least for a little while--as Grand Junction Public Works director Mark Relph leaves the city next month for another job in Washington State.

Relph says the Riverside Parkway has been his proudest achievement--requiring more behind the scenes work than most people would
know--and it's share of problems as the cost of materials skyrocketed in the last two years.

Relph says work on the Parkway will continue in his absence, but replacing him in the short–term will take two others who already have their hands full. "Actually City Manager David Varley will be using my two mangers here. Tim Moore is the assistant public works Utilities Director, and will kind of run the public works side. Greg Trainor, is going to run the operations and utilities side largely, and streets; so I think those two will be stepping up to take on most of the responsibility."

Relph says his biggest professional regret is that after working on the Parkway project for more than a decade he won't be around to see the final ribbon cutting on the project.
