Buescher To Introduce Cancer Vaccine Legislation

This week, Grand Junction Representative Bernie Buescher will introduce a bill that would make the first cervical cancer prevention vaccination available for women throughout Colorado.

Buescher heard about the vaccination through his oldest daughter who is in medical school and because the cost for the three shots is more than $300, the drafted bill will cover a variety of situations.

"The bill does a number of things. It makes it clear that if HPV vaccine available for Medicaid. It makes it clear that standard health care in Colorado will cover HPV. And for those folks not covered, they can get it through public health," Buescher said.

A public education campaign will also be a part of the legislation, which Buescher says will be introduced and drafted this week.
