First responders from eastern Utah, the Front Range, and right here in Mesa County are attending the three day, Center of the Universe EMS and fire conference to continue their required medical education.
The EMT's are learning lots of things that are crucial to their work out in the field.
Lectures were given on trauma scenarios, medical causes of shock, and ethics; which experts said is an important aspect to the Emergency Medical Service Field. After the conferences, the EMT's then had the opportunity to use what they learned in the classroom and try it in life like scenarios. Some citizens even donated themselves to this learning experience where they posed as victims in different medical situation. All of this training is important because the medical field is ever evolving.
This is the 7th year the conference has been held in Grand Junction. Officials say they chose Grand Junction as the host city because they can provide quality education at a reasonable cost to the EMT's who attend from all over the region.
