The Downtown Grand Junction Rotary Club gave New Emerson Elementary kids something to cheer about Thursday. The service club cut a check for $11,800 to purchase new playground equipment.
Rotarians have a strong commitment to District 51 and after seeing a report on 11 News Colorado about how the school was trying to raise money for new playground equipment, they decided to help.
Teachers, parents and students have already raised about $11,000 for the new playground and say with Rotary's donation they have reached their goal. They hope to install the new equipment this spring break.
