500 Lbs. Of Marijuana Discovered During Traffic Stop

Thanks to a traveling pack of Colorado State Patrol K–9 units, more than 500 lbs. of marijuana was seized along Interstate-70 near Mack Monday.

State patrol pulled over 36-year-old Arnoldo Escalante-Gutierrez at mile post nine for weaving.

Escalante-Gutierrez was found without a Colorado license and a search of the vehicle unveiled 569 lbs. of marijuana, packaged in 24 bales.

The driver told police he was traveling from Arizona to Denver.

Escalante-Gutierrez was taken to the Mesa County Jail and faces several charges, including a special offender charge for possession of marijuana in excess of 100 lbs.
