A driver lost his life on a rural Mesa County intersection Tuesday afternoon after being involved in a two vehicle accident.
The accident happened around 1:30p.m. off of 24 and I Roads. According to the Colorado State Patrol; a Ford pick–up truck was making its way north up 24 Road when it came to the top of the hill and crashed into a Cadillac which witnesses say was attempting to make a u–turn.
The 67-year-old male driver of the Cadillac was extricated from the car and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His 65-year-old female passenger in the car was also taken the hospital but trooper's say that her injuries appear to be minor. The driver of the Ford was not hurt and authorities say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
