Delta County is trying to find some new solutions to combat a mosquito problem and to prevent West Nile Virus.

The Delta County Health and Human Services Department hosted a public forum Thursday evening to review West Nile Virus mosquito outbreaks for this past year; and to find prevention strategies for 2007 and years to come.

The Delta County Health Department said some Delta County residents are concerned about the use of spraying with Malathion because of health hazards and that is why they are trying to find some alternative methods to try and control the mosquito population.

The Delta County Health Department wants to stress that personal responsibility is most important. So if you are going to be outside during mosquito season, cover up and take preventative measures.
