Oil and gas pollution is a hot topic in DeBeque these days, and State Representative, Bernie Buescher was in the small town for a meeting.

The issue at hand are proposals for water evaporation ponds. These ponds will hold run off from oil and gas drilling. After listening to concerned citizens Buescher has decided to take action.

Representative Buescher says, " I'm going to meet with both, the Executive Director of the Department of Natural Resources and the Executive Director of the Department of Public Health and the Environment, to make sure they are able to monitor the air quality and water quality in DeBeque."

While this discussion is on going, the process is in the early stages. No applications have been received for the construction of the evaporation ponds.
