911 service was down in Mesa County for about an hour today because of an apparent technical problem at the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center.
Police Spokesperson Linda Bowman says the problem likely happened internally during an attempt to upgrade equipment for dispatch. Bowman says dispatchers in Garfield County helped answer 911 calls while the system was down between 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.
