Bill Would Make It Child Abuse To Sell Drugs With Kids Around

A Grand Junction lawmaker is sponsoring a bill that would make it child abuse to sell drugs in the presence of a child.

State Representative Steve King introduced house bill 12–57 to the House Judiciary Committee. The bill would make it child abuse if a person were to sell drugs or possess them with the intent to sell knowing that a child was present, and would be punishable by a class three felony.

Representative King is a former detective with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.
