Mesa County Animal Shelter At Capacity

Video will be available shortly.

The winter months are typically slower for Mesa County Animal services but this year the shelter is inundated with animals. Staff at the shelter say February started off with a bang, and they are now running at capacity.

The shelter says they've been working closely with humane societies to get animals adopted because the space is so limited. Executive Director Penny McCarty says they have been known to house dogs in bathrooms and utilize the outdoor kennels but that a larger shelter is needed.

If you're pet is missing you're asked to call Mesa County Animal Services right away and please pick it up.
