Hundreds Converge At Children's Summit

More than 100 people from different agencies around Mesa County came together to determine how they're doing for children and families in our area.

This year the Children's Summit of Mesa County focused on four main topics. Mental health, physical health, early childhood, and K-12 education.

Community partners and officials broke into small groups during the Summit in an effort to form new objectives and goals. Organizers say while there have been many positive accomplishments by the many agencies on the western slope, there's still always more to be done.

Last year was the first–ever Children's Summit and about 20 people attended. This year that number increased by more than 100. The Early Childhood Partnership will take the information gathered from the Summit to come up with goals for the next year.
