The Club 20 winter meetings are underway and Thursday's session featured several distinguished guests and a topic that effects not just the Western Slope but Colorado as a whole--transportation.
Western Slope Congressmen John Salazar and Mark Udall were on hand to field questions on funding from a federal level and to talk about how future needs will be funded.
Club 20's President Reeves Brown said that in the last couple of years, federal funding has been on the increase thanks to Colorado's representation in Washington D.C.
Salazar did give an example, siting several multi-million funding requests for several roadways, including a stretch of Highway 340 in Fruita.
Part of Governor Bill Ritter's "Colorado Promise" is to create a statewide transportation system, which includes of course roads, but rail and local airport renovations as well.
Club 20's Thursday meeting continued with tourism talks as well.
