Plans for a community recreation center moved forward Wednesday as Hilltop released the results of a poll it conducted. The poll found the Grand Junction community feels that they can support and benefit from a recreation center.
Some of the questions people were asked in the poll were if they would use the facility, how they would prefer to pay for it, where it should be located and who would they have run the facility.
Organizers of the project say it's time Grand Junction had its own recreation center.
The poll was based on a project that would cost $25 million but organizers believe that it will only cost around $15 million.
The recreation center is now moving forward into Phase II which includes finding a steering committee and holding public meetings.
