Washington (AP) Colorado is one of nine states from which personal census data including names, addresses and phone numbers have been obtained -- and mistakenly posted on a public internet site.

Census bureau officials acknowledged Wednesday that personal details from 302 households were posted on the site multiple times during a five-month period.

It's not immediately clear how many of those households are located in Colorado.

The data also included birth dates and family income ranges, but apparently, no Social Security numbers. Still, the affected households are being offered free credit monitoring.

The security breach occurred when employees working from home tested new software.
