MESA, Colo. (AP) - One man is dead after his truck rolled more than 200 feet down an embankment on the Grand Mesa.

Colorado State Patrol says 66-year-old Donald R. Mathews of Orchard City, Colorado died after his truck ran off the side of Highway 65 near mile marker 33, about 12 miles south of Powderhorn Resort.

They say Mathews went off the right side of the road, hit a post, crossed back and forth across the road twice and then went off the embankment.

Mathews wasn't ejected from the truck but died as a result of his injuries. They're uncertain what time the accident happened. He was last heard from around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and a CDOT snowplow driver spotted the wreckage around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Mathews was the only person in the truck. Officials say speed, drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.

Colorado State Patrol, Mesa County Sheriff's Department and Search & Rescue, Plateau Valley Fire Department and CDOT crews responded to the scene.
