WASHINGTON (KKCO) - Pet owners could possibly be getting a tax break if a new 'Happy' bill passes.

The legislation entitled 'Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years', or the 'Happy Act', would offer a per–person tax break of up to $3,500 for pet care expenses.

Animal welfare groups are backing the bill as well as Hollywood Actor Robert Davi, star of "Goonies" and "Die Hard."

Backers say the bill could also help the economy since the tax break would potentially be used to care for or pamper pets.
