Denver (AP) Secretary of State Mike Coffman is placing Montrose county on an election watch list, and plans to send in election monitors after serious problems with the November election, The Associated Press has learned.
Montrose is one of four counties on the watch list.
Coffman says if the counties fail to address the deficiencies, He'll seek a court order giving him direct supervision over that county's next election.
Coffman notified election officials in Denver, Pueblo, Montrose and Douglas counties last week they were being placed on the list.
He says Denver and Douglas counties were placed on the list due to long lines at voting centers.
Pueblo is on the list because election officials broke the law and didn't verify signatures.
Montrose was named because of multiple, serious security lapses.
