Doctors offices across the Grand Valley are not taking any new patients. The problem, they say, is too many patients and not enough doctors to serve them.
Like many doctors offices, Western Physicians of Western Colorado, has been a closed office for three months. This problem didn't pop up overnight in Grand Junction. Dr. David West of St. Mary's said the problem affects all of America.
To help alleviate the doctors shortage, St. Mary's Hospital has hired a physician recruiter whose only job is to find new doctors. But, medical officials warn there is no easy answer.
So, until there are more family physicians practicing in the Grand Valley, doctors recommend those looking to be persistent.
