Church Finds Spray Paint on Statue, Building

Glenwood springs, Colo. (AP) A string of vandalism incidents and break-ins at or near a Glenwood Springs church has police looking for at least one suspect -- and possibly more.

The most recent case occurred Friday when someone used red paint to scrawl the words ``God is dead'' at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Several cars in the neighborhood were also broken into the same night.

The face of a statue of Mary was also painted red.

It's the latest of more than roughly six cases of vandalism or break-ins in the last three-and-a-half years.

Damage was estimated at several thousand dollars after someone knocked over a fountain at the church last year.

Paint from the latest vandalism spree has already been removed.
